The Pocket on Australia by Design
The Pocket will be featured this Saturday 2 September on Australia by Design, a new architecture show airing nationally on the Ten network.
The nine-part weekly series is hosted by architect and agitator for good design, Tim Horton. In each episode Tim visits a different state with local architects and industry leaders to film innovative and creative built design. The final episode judges the top 10 architectural statements of the year in each state and territory.
“It’s about distilling the way architects think and work, and making sure we do not compromise by ‘dumbing it down’,” says Tim, in an interview published by The Urban Developer. “What it brings to television is a national ‘survey’ of the best contemporary architecture in Australia—big and small, modest and extravagant, public buildings and private retreats.”
Whilst filming on location with Tim (pictured), Dominic had the opportunity to talk about the design features which led to The Pocket winning the Harold Krantz Award for Residential Architecture at the WA Architecture Awards in June.
The WA episode of Australia by Design will air on 2 September at 3pm. You can watch special extended versions of each episode here . Below is a preview of Dominic’s segment.
