Multi-residential, Retirement living
82 independent-living apartments built around central courtyard and community facilities
Full service architecture and interior design
Cameron Chisholm Nicol is working closely with Southcare to develop a new multi-unit development, focused on aged and dependent living in Manning. The development is designed to meet the needs of local residents looking to downsize and will provide quality housing at a reasonable price point.
A master plan was developed for the two sites either side of Bickley Cresent with Bickley Cresent itself also updated to form an integrated precinct.
Capitalising on proximity to shops, parks and transport, the 82 apartments will support ageing-in-place. All apartments are designed to achieve Silver standard under the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines. This ensures the dwellings are easy to access, navigate and live in, and can be adapted to suit changes in mobility. Thresholds are omitted to create level entries, and 19 apartments have been designed to achieve a Platnium Liveable Housing standard.
Communal areas incorporate places to pause and interact, creating multiple opportunities for socialising. A community lounge, cafe and upgraded public space will service both residents and the wider community.
The development will create a welcoming new precinct that meets a growing need for affordable independent living in Manning and the surrounding areas.
