Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City
Major extensions and additions to a regional shopping centre
Masterplanning, full service architecture and interior design
The City of Joondalup is designated as a Strategic Regional Centre under the Western Australian Planning Commission’s Metropolitan Centres Policy. Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City is the major shopping centre and retail showpiece of the city and is designed to be an integral part of the central business district.
The first two stages of Lakeside Joondalup were completed in the early 1990s. Cameron Chisholm Nicol has recently completed Stage 3. Major additions include the construction of new malls, a supermarket, a discount department store, mini majors, restaurants, a tavern, offices and over 100 specialty shops. Planning has made allowance for a 11,000m² department store on two levels at a future date.
By designing and planning the current extensions over two levels, the shopping centre now has major entries and commercial and retail street frontage linking it directly with the City of Joondalup CBD development.
Master planned to cater for the maximum allowable limit of 100,000m² NLA, the execution of the current extensions illustrate Cameron Chisholm Nicol’s capability in the planning, design and delivery of complex urban projects.
