Cameron Chisholm Nicol were commissioned by East Fremantle Junior Football Club to provide upgraded amenities and shelter for their clubhouse at Henry Jeffery Oval.
Constrained by a tight budget and limited space to expand the clubrooms, the priorities were to provide female-friendly amenities, expand the main club room and provide much needed additional shelter for spectators.
Open shower stalls (rarely used for junior sports) were converted into female-friendly WC facilities to cater for the growing participation of girls in junior football and cricket. The alterations also included the creation of a permanent BBQ facility and expansion of the canteen.
The expanded balcony area utilises translucent polycarbonate roofing for maximum natural daylight and perforated aluminum screens that feature sporting graphics which provides increased weather protection from prevailing SW storms. The perforated screen preserve views out to the playing field and enhance the sporting purpose of the facilities.
Additional shelter, a larger clubroom for hosting club events and female friendly facilities, significantly enhance the existing club facilities for players and spectators. Renovations completed in time for the 2020 football season have transformed the spectator and player experience at the club.
