Amara City Gardens is a mixed-use commercial and residential project in Melville that is Perth’s first ‘retail living’ development. Located adjacent to the Garden City Shopping Centre, Amara will create an activated urban form on under-utilised land currently occupied by a carpark.

The 15 storey apartment tower includes a 3-storey podium which conceals car parking and is sleeved at ground level by commercial tenancies.  An internal driveway to the carpark also provides a pedestrian link to an existing lake to the east.

At street level,  the development’s scale, rhythm and texture responds to the desired urban character defined in the Melville City Centre Activity Centre Structure Plan, which aims to transform the precinct into a thriving urban hub. An activated streetscape features seating, bike racks, an art wall, and new hard and soft landscaping.

The 124 apartments are designed with regard to views, solar orientation and prevailing winds, with a mix of one-, two- and three- bedroom dwellings encouraging inter-generational living. Residents’ amenities on level 3 of the podium include a communal dining area, kitchen and wine cellar, which open onto to a landscaped verandah. A gymnasium is located on the ground floor. On the roof, an extensive photovoltaic array will harness solar energy for the provision of common area light and power.

Identified as a transit oriented development (TOD) location due to its easy transport access, Amara City Gardens will become a vibrant place to live, work and visit.
